Scilex Holding Company Invests $150M in Bitcoin to Acquire Stake in Datavault AI

Sep 26, 2025

Crypto investors, biotech watchers, and AI innovators, Scilex Holding Company (NASDAQ: SCLX) is making a bold pivot—investing $150 million in Bitcoin to acquire a major stake in Datavault AI.

The deal includes 15 million shares upfront and up to 278.9 million shares total, pending shareholder approval. This strategic move positions Skyllex to participate in Datavault’s mission to build supercomputing infrastructure, launch decentralized data exchanges, and monetize biotech datasets. In return, Scilex secures board representation: two seats if it holds over 10{d450b60efc35a2e17361b5d57bc194208ff1ac62c46bd45a026f4271e6a4dcc4} ownership, and one if between 5–10{d450b60efc35a2e17361b5d57bc194208ff1ac62c46bd45a026f4271e6a4dcc4}.

While the deal carries shareholder and crypto volatility risks, it marks a clear shift for Scilex —traditionally known for non-opioid pain therapies—into a future of AI and blockchain-powered health data innovation.
