Hexion and Citrotec Partner to Bring Safer Fire Protection Technology to Buildings

Hexion Vice President of Building and Construction Steve Willoughby discusses the company’s partnership with Citrotec to bring new fire-prevention technology into building materials. The collaboration combines Citrotec’s fire-prevention technology with Hexion’s materials science, manufacturing expertise, and building and construction experience, with a focus on incorporating low-toxicity, environmentally safer technology directly into products such as wood to improve fire protection before a fire starts.

Willoughby says demand for improved fire performance is growing across markets including wildland-urban interface areas and multifamily housing, creating opportunities for materials that can help prevent fires or slow their spread.
