Acurx Pharma Presents New Antibiotic Data Targeting C. Diff and Drug-Resistant VRE

Acurx Pharmaceuticals announced the presentation of new scientific research evaluating ibezapolstat, its investigational antibiotic, at the 9th International C. difficile Symposium in Slovenia. The research compared the in vitro killing activity of ibezapolstat and other antibiotics in cultures containing Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).

Acurx Executive Chairman Robert DeLuccia said that, if the findings are validated in the company’s Phase 3 registration program and ultimately in clinical practice, ibezapolstat’s activity could potentially help reduce the emergence of VRE in hospitals while treating patients with C. difficile infection.
