Acurx Pharma Expands Global Patent Portfolio With New Japan and Mexico Patents

Acurx Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ACXP) has strengthened its global intellectual property portfolio after receiving new patents from the Japan Patent Office and the Mexico Patent Office. The newly granted patents cover the company’s DNA polymerase IIIC (Pol IIIC) inhibitor platform, including composition of matter, methods of use, and pharmaceutical compositions, further protecting Acurx’s next-generation antibiotic development programs for difficult-to-treat bacterial infections.

With these latest approvals, Acurx now holds six U.S. patents and ten international patents spanning Australia, Canada, Europe, Israel, India, Japan, Korea, and Mexico. The patent portfolio protects key aspects of the company’s ibezapolstat and ACX-375C programs targeting DNA polymerase IIIC, while additional patent applications remain under review in other jurisdictions.
