Stardust Power Joins DOE Program to Extract Lithium From U.S. Waste Streams
Stardust Power (NASDAQ: SDST) has been selected as an industrial partner in a U.S. Department of Energy-funded research program focused on developing next-generation electrochemical technology to extract lithium from domestic waste streams. The initiative includes wastewater from oil and gas operations and drainage from legacy coal mines as potential new lithium sources.
Led by Ohio University’s Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment, alongside Consol Innovations, the collaboration supports Stardust Power’s strategy of diversifying domestic lithium supply and strengthening U.S. energy security. The company says these alternative feedstocks could eventually become a valuable supply source for its battery-grade lithium refinery operations.
