American Fusion Chairman: Texatron Fusion Could Power Data Centers Without Nuclear Waste

Oct 2, 2026

American Fusion Executive Chairman Brent Nelson explains the company’s Texatron fusion engine, an aneutronic fusion platform being developed to supply power for data centers, remote industrial sites, hospitals, defense applications and other high-demand environments. Nelson says the technology uses deuterium and helium-3, with helium-4 as a fusion byproduct, and is designed to generate electricity without the nuclear waste associated with conventional nuclear power.

American Fusion has developed 12 Texatron models, ranging from a half-megawatt unit to systems reaching a gigawatt in scale. Nelson says the company has proposals representing tens of billions of dollars and is talking with major data center operators, military organizations and other potential customers. The company is also exploring a potential uplisting and says it is currently before the Texas Stock Exchange eligibility committee while holding discussions with the NYSE and Nasdaq.
